@Fchyeahh think about thisYou have a naturally aspirated car, which sucks air into the manifold at LESS THAN ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE. That means it relies on the downward stroke of a piston to pull air into the cylinder. At low rpm on a N/A engine, an intake can help because its gets more air to the engine faster, the engine is using the same amount of air with combustion, but it doesn' work as hard to get it. I can get into the math behind how hp and tq are made but you won't get it.
@Fchyeahh Ok so here's some more knowledge...a naturally aspirated engine from the 90-early 2000's will not gain much power from an intake or exhaust (unless it has forced induction), It will sound better but it MIGHT gain you a .01 sec better 0-60 or 1/4 mile. Sorry but not impressed, this 4dr. regal was pretty fucking fast for 96 believe it or not, I could give a shit less what you've beaten, miracles happen every day....
@tbirdsport302 Actually they do help, I can feel the difference from stock. And yes, a Malibu. I've beat a few cars that should have easily won but didn't. -Integra GSR, Mazda Miata, 3.8 S2 Bonneville, Dodge Stratus coupe and some others. I can also keep up with a 305 Firebird. Malibu's aren't all that bad.
@Fchyeahh ok, let me hit you up with some knowledge, a short ram intake and exhaust does absolutely nothing for this car, or for any car for that matter. Unless you increase the diameter of your stock exhaust piping, then you will see increases of MAYBE 5whp, and thats with a forced induction engine. A 3.1 malibu isn't that much slower than this car but it IS slower, I have raced them and its an easy win. 1. This car weighs more. 2. Its not a teenage girl's car, 3. A malibu..really?
@tbirdsport302 You may think I'm joking, but I'm pretty sure my 99 Malibu 3.1 SFI V6 could beat this. All it has is a lack of an exhaust and a short air intake.
@Fchyeahh i dunno what to tell ya man, i did this on a completely flat road and a damn near empty gas tank. :( ...You have to remember this car was made back in 1996, there weren't too many 4 door V6 sedans that were naturally aspirated that could beat this back then. The regal was one of the first and lightest GM sedans to ever receive the series II.... had no trouble against crown vics, camrys, taurus's, and accords of similar year. I know its nothing crazy but back then it was kinda quick

@tbirdsport302 I wouldn't call that "knowledge", just someone that doesn't know shit about anything. Go back to your parents basement.
