since posting this video and getting a fair about of comments (thank you) I sent a shorter version of the video to Boeing and they have sent an alert to Qantas. Job done. Thanks for all your engagement, much appreciated YouTubers.

oh Ch9 News... you lost a story there thinking this was normal.
Qantas - why is it so dam hard to tell someone there is a potential problem?
Thanks to Boeing in Sydney who listened.

Ok, two Pilots have given me their opinion and said this panel lifting on Number 1 engine is NOT normal. However, someone else has consulted his "experts" (not sure of where their expertise is from) and said this is normal.

So now i'm asking YouTubers to ask their experts, hopefully one is an aviation expert.

The panel is lifting and must be causing drag, it's certainly not aerodynamic and I can't see why it should lift.

Answers on a postcard please or just leave a comment, thanks

I have re-uploaded this video as the first one was sent out unlisted so you probably will not have been notified. Thanks for your assistance.

They contacted me and said the plane was repaired two weeks after I contacted them and are looking into improving communication. I was told it posed no risk but I said no risk until it comes off saying that someone else had sent me a photo of such an event for another airline. I also told them that as far as I was concerned the cabin crew I told I did not have her undivided attention as she was busy talking to someone else.

  • Anyone has a parachute?

  • @jtmjtm2001 haha

  • Yikes, some engineer is going to get his arse kicked. Good pick up though. You should have asked the cabin crew to show the footage to the pilots while you were in the air perhaps.

Did you notice if it made any noise, like a buzzing or whistling from the air rushing over it?

  • @ben7k no never noticed any noise. I did speak to a cabin crew member on the ground but she was busy talking to someone I didn't have her full attention so gave up. She did shy she would tell the engineer but the trouble was the panel was sitting back down upon landing unless you knew where to look it would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

  • @mikeycbd I totally agree, You can't ignore it, Even the tiniest thing can cause a major problem, All though usually either the Captain or first officer check the wings from on board, Good job you were there i guess :P

  • @umpalumpa101909 it does make sense but you can't ignore it and I did get a thanks from Qantas in the end for highlighting it to them because they said the engineers would never have seen it on the ground.

  • @mikeycbd Easy, For example, Just because something is not normal, doesn't mean it's a problem, it simple means it's different to the Majority of others, which are classed as normal, if that makes sense

  • @Jules5 i got a reply from Boeing and they sent an alert to Qantas.

  • I'm on this flight (QF 132) next Sunday...I'll look into it.
