How to Survive and Thrive in Minecraft 1.0! In this episode, we craft ladders and a trapdoor for our basement. Then we use the "gravel express elevator" to descend into a hole in the ground and learn some handy cavern navigation tips.

I wanted to follow where the water starts in a water fall and it is just one brick spilling water there is nothing behind some waterfalls.

I think a better strategy is when you reach a crossroad make 3 torches in the shape on an arrow to indicate which way's out

I tried to follow the torches on right side rule, but I couldnt be bothered and got lost in this cave that led to a ravine. It took me a good ten minutes to get out

The point is, if the torches are ALL on the right hand side going down, then they will be on the left hand side coming out. So if you get lost or turned around and you can find a path with torches, follow it in the direction in which they are on the left and you will eventually get out of the cave.
