I think this song is about suicide spurred by misanthropy and his weakness facing it. He's talking to himself. Listening and watching around him, no one cared/nothing relevant. Takes a a break from his depression/madness, goes to a diner, then he has to run away, go kill himself, cause no one cares(swing a cat, hit a soul)
Mercy killing on the way(suicide), never thought I'd hear you say(misanthropy), falling on your knees to pray now(weakness).
One is the best one will ever have. Love yourself.

@kingofthedrums it can't be Pennie cuz...it just doesn't sound like him. And I agree with Thelaofkazi. irony is a dead scene's version is by far superior. That one's for sure Pennie and i love me a good dillinger pennie combo. Nothin like it.
