I miss pre 9/11 art... in the 80's-90's a movie, tv show or book wasn't made without a few cheap shots at the government or military (and it was OK-you weren't a terrorist, IT WAS PRO-AMERICAN. You measure modern M1A2 modifications with first production models of T-90 from 1993-1994. Good job. T-90A is latest modification in use by RF Army and there is T-90MS prototype. And if you want, you shoud look at side profile of both Abrams and T-90 and look at turrest, and you will see where a lot of weight was saved. And Turret shape of T-90 is more weight-efficient, than Abrams turret layout.

BTW T-90 will be replaced by "Armata" in near 4-5 years, which have many ideas from Object-195.

I know it uses the concept of blow out pannels which are in use on Abrams, but still, it makes the problem of cooking off go away... so what is your point?

What would be the point of building a tank, that is no use against the current

ammo? The most effective APDSDS in use on Abrams (M829A3) gives 795mm RHA at 2000m, other say 765, and other 800mm RHA.

We can wage internet wars all day long, Abrams is a very good tank, but still, I don't think that the T-90 is a shitty tank to begin with.

The m1 has thicker armor 1620mm VS HEAT t-90 has 830-950mm VS HEAT. And the M1 is 8 feet tall and t-90 is 7 foot 3. That height difference should not make the t-90 15 tones less then a M1.

The T-90 is not built on ERA its simply added on and current munitions can by pass them. And t-90MS uses ammo blow out panels witch was first used in the Abrams.
