martial artist Master Sonny Umpad works with his students at his home studio in the bay area with instructors Jay Jasper Pugao, Ken Ingram and Kevin Baptiste. The Espada Y Daga weapons demonstrated here in the FLOW expresses 2 different focuses while naturally in the Feeder/Receiver Pendulum: 1) utilizing the GUNTING blocks (scissor blocks) at the point of contact 2) respecting the movement and the range of the weapon. That each weapon hand & weapon behave and flows in its true personality. Meaning, if one hand is using the short blade while the other hand is utilizing the longer stick the stick should move like a stick while the blade should move like a blade and not like a stick. september 1998
