Confessed al-Qaida terrorist Dhiren Barot led a plot to bomb U.S. financial targets such as the New York Stock Exchange, luxury London hotels and train stations.

The plans _ which 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed claimed to be responsible for _ included plots to blow up stretch limousines packed with gas tanks, napalm and nails.

Investigators said Barot, a British convert to Islam, had traveled the globe to gain terrorist training and met alleged Asian terror chief Hambali and Mohammed. "He is a long-term, dedicated, committed member of al-Qaida," said Peter Clarke, then Britain's most senior anti-terrorist detective.

Barot was jailed in Nov. 2006 for 40 years _ though his sentence was later reduced to 30 years.
