no, navigon will use the in built gps to traingluate your position using satellites. navigon maps are all installed in your phone and you dont need edge or 3g.

I thought you could use that program offline

@Gunshotkofi Well doesnt matter you dont need internet the maps are built in so its gonna cost u in memory

i've tested both the sirfstar 3 gps chipset and the qualcom and the sirfstar 3 is slightly more accurate. I have found the qualcom is maybe 10 metres or so less accurate. Unfortunately most mobile devices are using the qualcom chipset now. Its pretty good but sirfstar 3 is more precise by 10 or 20 metres. you might find when driving qualcom chip takes longer to detect a new road turn than sirfstar 3. im not to sure but i think only sirfstar 3 supports WAS in north america which is very acrt

No, You don't need wifi or a data plan. It's great, just wish it had the voice activation like the droid does.
is that a crack on the bottom left of the phone? :D

Maybe not a competition. But if You have iPhone with Navigon, i think You can skip the real navigation device. It's good enough.
