A classic banjo tune from 1882 played on resonator guitar. Learned from sheet music.

I had Halloween in mind. It's theme music for running away from a ghost with a flaming pumpkin head, something along those lines.

Blog entry with MP3 and more back story:

I can easily post an MP3 and tabs, so ask if you want them.

  • Cool little tune!

  • thanks, man.

It's a great little composition. What's crazy about it is the way that the harmony dips into both blues and classical. I hear Paganini *and* Rev. Gary Davis.

Also, it's clearly using ragtime rhythms, more than 10 years before the official birth in 1893.

Weston was a really sophisticated musician both harmonically and rhythmically.
