I was just wondering.. why you didnt have to render your clips at all throughout this tutorial..?
-
I always wonder why the transition doesn't apply on some video. Now i know it's because of no handle. Thanks for the wonderful effort in making this video. Looking forward to see more advanced fcp tutorials... thanks!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the Glow filters for transitions better than brightness/contrast.

Ok, so what if i want to drag in my whole clip into the timeline but i dont have extra space to create the handles, how do i get the handles without cutting at the end & beginning of my clip?

Hey there - this is a great video, thank you so much.
I seem to be having an odd problem with some transitions...I have handles, but sometimes a frame on the transitioning clip repeats and I end up with the subject stuttering and it looks really bad and noticeable. I can sometimes fix it with the ripple tool but I have no idea what I am doing...any ideas?

@mindymantle It could be a render error from FCP because of the codec you are using. Sometimes its from h.264. If your clips are not in ProRes422 HQ I would convert them, make sure the file name stays the same, and put them in the folder where your original ones are for the final cut project. When final cut starts back up it will reconnect those ProRes clips and be fine. If you want you can move the original ones somewhere else out of that folder just in case you want a backup of those files

when i put in cross dissolve it makes no difference, it does completely nothing
WHATS GOING ON

@seanmaysing You might be putting it on the edge of the clip, in which case it will only dissolve a single frame and is not noticeable. Try pulling the transition down again but this time hold the mouse and let it hover over the edge, move it away from the edge to see the icon change to a wider setting and try that. If it doesn't work try the technique of changing the transparency levels and putting one video track over the other like at 7:15

Hello! Wonderful video. Thank you so much for sharing. I have a quick question about cross fading. I want to get two clips to cross fade together but on my system the duration of the cross-fade is only 1 frame (which is basically unnoticeable) and I can't change that or extend it to whatever length I want my cross fade to be at... can you please help is there is an option that I'm missing some place. Thank you so much.

@mdsfilms There are 2 reasons why this happens. (1) There isn't enough of a handle - See 1:00 or (2) when you pull the built in transition effect down onto the video clip(s), you are actually dropping it on the edge of the video layer. If you pull the transition effect down to the video clip and then hold it & let it hover over the edge, you can move it away from the edge slowly and the transition overlay should double in size. You want to always use the transition overlay that is wider/larger
