Traditional song that's always popular in the clubs with lots of great harmony possibilities. It was written in the 1840's, lyrics by Charles Jeffries and music by Sidney Nelson. Many people think it's either Irish or Scotish but, it was written about a maid from Allendale in Northumbria, so it's actually English. This is my attempt at this great song and it's available on the cd "All in good time" Find it at www.oldblackdogrecords.com
