  • Thx for a better quality upload of this song, the other sounds like trash

  • I have this album on vinyl, and this song is frightening on my sound system. As if he's in the room w/ me, surreal. But all of that's a compliment for Waits.

  • @MadTomOfBedlam YESSIR!

  • @Cazz814 tom waits didn't sound like this at first, you have to work on it, but you can get an equally strange and unique sound out of yourself if you try

  • @Cazz814 Trust me, it hurts like hell to imitate him. My friends tell me I do a pretty fair job, but that's at the expense of not being able to talk for the next hour aftewards.

  • I thought of this song while watching the tv series/ graphic novel the Walking Dead, it has a place called Hershel's farm with a barn filled with zombies. Tom Waits is a prophet.

  • did you bury Your fire?

  • @godfreyhowatchin quote from Waits interview "she introduced me to gypsy music " and lot of other stuff too not just beefheart. i heard a group of Bulgarian gypsies playing a traditional song last month on the street in frankfurt, germany, the melody was identical to one of the Swordfish era songs. can t remember which one right now....might have been Jockey full of bourbon.i think he was also anxious to move away from the jazzy boozey style which was becoming a bit of a cliche for him.

  • @crackityjonez tom's entire change in style starting from swordfishtrombones has been admitted to be mostly because his wife started bugging him to listen to captain beefheart, so i wouldn't be too surprised if he was thinkin of gimme dat harp boy

beefheart and tom still have a lot to say to inspire modern music, it's neat

  • @velocitymurder Yes this album is available as 2LP

  • God I wish I sounded like Tom Waits.

  • @maliciousRainDog Original released on vinal as well as CD? On vinal would be awesome.
