i use both controls and voice- sometimes its quicker to hit a button than it is to say the last of the command
the way they talk back to you over headset is very immerssive plus the cinematics make it seem like a movie during gameplay.
i love how the troops talk random stuff like GTA pedestrians do.

EndWar has a special bundle that has a headset included. For the XBOX 360 version bundle they sell it at Best Buy I think.

Yes the mic comes with the 360 EXCEPT the Arcade Version. I would suggest getting either the Premium Xbox 360 or the Elite Xbox 360.
As for the voice command. No you don't need it, but it's highly (very) recommended that you do use it because things can pretty out of control and it's easier to control those situations with your voice rather then pressing buttons.
Trust me you'll eventually (very quickly) get a knack for the voice commands they're easy to learn.

Does the microphone come with the xbox360? and do i need voice command in order to play?

I've heard that the voice command feature works really well and it's really good how you can immerse yourself in the action unlike other RTS's. Graphics are also very good for an RTS.
