I saw you driving this beauty on the Jamaica Way last Wednesday, unfortunately we were driving in opposite directions and could not enjoy it thoroughly, but it is really amazing!! I hope you bring it to the German car day or Porsche day at the Larz Anderson auto museum next year.
Cheers!!!

@mspraggins Well, that was the info I got from the net....the pre productions were made in 1969, the first year that they went in production was in 1970...I know that the winer of the GTS class was a 916...the 914 never raced on Le Mans, but for sure the 916s did. Thank you for the info anyways

The Porsche that came in 6th in 1970 was a 914/6 GT. The Porsche 916 never officially raced. The 11 916s that were built were prototypes or as some would say, pre-production.
Porsch>e<, not Porsch! :)

Nice car. By the way, you got wrong information. The eleven 916 prototypes never raced. Only 914-6 GT were raced. One 914-6 GT raced and won the GTS class at Le Mans in 1970. The car was white and had number 40. This very car was prepared by french importer Sonauto who was official importer of Porsche in France. Car still exists. Two 914-6 GT raced at Le Mans in 1971 but did not finish.

@johannes914 Thank you for the clarification...I knew it was a 914-6...just did not had the facts corect....I seing the picture of the car # 40...I just thought it was too plain...I always liked the 917K Gulf-Porsche look...so it is a mix of both...Thank you again for the info...cheers
