If there is an abundance of food then isn't it is in the monkey's SELF INTEREST to SHARE, because there are consequences to not sharing. I'm no monkey expert, but I assume he would be punished by the community if he did not share in this instance. Just like businesses who voluntarily GIVE UP some of their profits to different political parties, for the sake of maintaining their business over the long haul.
