    al di meola ,paco de lucia and john mclaughlin play flamenco jazz and classical music ...they kinda mix all these genres...other notable guitarists are george benson,wes montgomery ,tal farlow,pat metheny,charlie christian,django reinhardt etc....they are my favourites

    But you can make someone else play them, and that still makes you a great musician. Being a good musician should be about apreciating and composing music. Having the skills to play an instrument it's not enough if you play random notes. (That's why developing ear comes first)

    Ergo, you don't really need the technique to be a good musician.

    Keep in mind this is just my opinion and that I respect your point which is really important.

    Personally, I think that's completely wrong. Being a good musician should come first in every case. Of course, developing technique will make things easier and help you improve, but the main focus should always be style. It doesn't matters if you are an impressive player or not at first, what really matters is how good your ideas are.

    Although I think they are worlds of styles apart, I think Yngwie Malmsteen is NOT a clean technical guitarist and you can see it clearly when he tries playing acoustic guitar.
