The Story of Dr. Schauss and The Acai Berry
Dr. Alexander Schauss, world renowned research scientist and expert on the acai berry, discovered the remarkable health benefits of acai and found a way to preserve the berry so that it's nutrients could be shared around the globe.

Dr. Schauss was taught as a young man to look for anomalies in health and when one is found in a particular region, to look to the diet for possible reasons. He found great anomalies in the Para region of Brazil. He found people in an area at the equator, where the highest intensity of UVA and UVB rays are found, with virtually no skin cancer. In fact they had no cancer at all, no heart disease, none of the debilitation diseases found so commonly in the U.S. today. He noticed that the people there had the most beautiful skin tones he had ever seen. People in their 60's and 70's looked 20 to 30 years younger.
Upon examining their diet, Dr. Schauss found that the acai berry was a staple in their diet. He found that the people would consume an average of two liters a day. It was eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Acai was loved by the very young to the very old.
Dr. Schauss decided to send a batch of these berries to the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be tested for their ORAC score. ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity and is used by the USDA to analyze all plant foods for their antioxidant content.
You see, before the discovery of acai the wild black raspberry had the highest ORAC score in history. It scored at 320, but you could only get it if you went to Alaska and fought off the Grizzlies. When the results came back on the acai fruit it had taken 1st place scoring at 620. Scientists found this unique berry was arguably one of the most important fruits in existence for our health.
Knowing that the ripest fruits carried the highest ORAC score, Dr. Schauss separated the berries by quality. Grade A, B & C - "A" being the ripest and most nutrient-dense berries. He then gathered only the "A" grade berries, freeze dried them, sprayed them with the dried pulp and freeze dried them again compounding it. When he sent them back to the USDA the results came back even higher, an unbelievable score of 1027. This was completely off the charts climbing 200-750% higher than any other fruit known to man.
It's an extraordinary process from start to finish.
Dr. Alexander Schauss tell his amazing story of the acai berry
in his book "Acai: An Extraordinary Antioxidant-Rich
Palm Fruit".
