  • For the extra stanza, I hear this:

The sail; release the sails of life

    And you will be enriched

    In sails of life

The shining wings are sails of life

    And you will be enriched

    With sails of the wind

  • Yes exactly!!! Thanks a great deal for resolving this mystery!

  • After reading all the comments, I truly feel that I am amongst 'my people'. This song also has a very special place in my heart - it is to me the greatest song ever conceived, written, performed and sung. t is my most favorite and most played song. Thank you SO MUCH for posting this rare gem. I love it so much I often covet it from others....

  • One of my absolutely favorites, maybe the most DCD played song, I also adore the gathering's cover, it's one of the rare covers that's 100% as good as the original, this was the first song I've heard and is special for me too. The majority of favorite songs are Brendan Perry's songs, not sure why, maybe because I have to really be sad to enjoy Lisa Gerrard's songs, but oh boy when he goes "The way lies through our love..." I just melt, NO! The whole song just enthralls you!!!!!

  • wow!!!!!!

  • i first heard it from the gathering years back in the car of a friend but the song is truly great and the meaning of the lyrics (at least from my point of view) is great cheers for post and brofist

  • @longobardeath But it was released in the first album "Dead Can Dance" as well :-). It is also weird, cuz in the first album you have 10 tracks, then it is "divided" by some sort of label called "garden of the arcade delights" and then it starts the four last songs that you see in your CD. I have them all, so... :-)

  • I was just watching Brendan Perry's videos of his new tour. He plays this song but it will never be as perfect as the DCD era. I love this song too, very, very, very much. Thanks for posting.

  • @Procje What a beautiful thing to say! :)

  • i had thought that was a twelve string in there; it turned out to be a Yangqin. beautiful sound.

  • Fantastic footage. For me too, this is one of the most special and beautiful songs of the past century, and I'm amazed how many people are with me on this one. I bought the EP when it came out; i am now 42 but everytime i hear this song I'm 18 again.
