Tribute to the great Dewey Redman / composed by: Bruce Freedman / The West Coast Art Trio "Tune For Dewey': Bruce Freedman_Tenor Sax, Clyde Reed_Bass, Stan Taylor_Drums. Live from Jazz at Presentation House Fall Concert Series, 2009. Video clip courtesy of: TaterWorks, in support of our local music community. Recorded on a Zoom H4 & H4n, nothing fancy.
Fantastic music here from the trio. lots of energy and focus.Bruce Freedman is one of the most interesting of the new players, which sounds funny to say because Bruce has been playing great music with this same band for the last twenty years. Where have you been? Oh, thats right , you were looking for something groovin'

Actually it's pretty connected on many musical levels if you taking a closer look at the inner details of the "concept{s}" without bias as a listener/player in this form of jazz music. Listening, tension and release, call and response, rhythmic reference points to the melody in the solos, open loop time feels, syncopation, improvisation etc.. JAZZ! A much closer listen has them clearly laid out throughout the performance helping to get closer to better understanding of this form of jazz.
