@Nuclearman2 I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Gerards "nerd Clark" was stupid and WAYY over the top. Apparently that was what Ilya Salkind wanted for the portrayal of Clark, which Newton refused to do thank God. Also, I swear Gerard had a slight lisp when he portrayed Superboy, which always rubbed me the wrong way.
John Newton STILL looks like he could pull off being Superman in a new film or show. I say give the guy a shot!!

John was replaced by Gerard for several reasons: the producers didn't like his portrayal, he wanted a 20% pay increase, and he had a very public DUI arrest.

@rinoa2k10 John and Stacy was dating each other back then and that why she seems more into him then Gerard. I was think the same thing when Gerard took over. I wish that the cast was to guest in smallville.

anyone who knows y John was suddenly replaced by Gerard???? Cuz I so agree that JOhn and Stacy's tandem is better! They look so cute together. Although Gerard's looks also fits for Superman, he doesnt have a good chemistry with Stacy. ITs like Tom Welling and Erica Durance in Smallville. I mean they both fit for the role but when they are put together i can't see any spark b/w them.
