Did you know the Eskimo (and/or Their Kin) reached Europe thousands of years before White Man 'discovered' the Americas? Perhaps 25,000 years earlier. They used boats that led to the modern skinned Eskimo Kayaks. Cool, eh?

This kayak is 16'6", about 5.5 meters. The waterline length is 5 meters. The length makes for an excellent touring sea kayak, but of course it all depends ultimately on your goals in designing a kayak, because there is no perfect boat for every condition!

How long is that kayak? I'm looking to build my own, but it appears to be almost 6 metres long. I think that is quite long, although it does have advantages to... What is your opinion?

@Tillered The kayak I currently build is a modern design of mine, with inspiration from Pygmy's Coho and Brian Schulz's F1. It's not much similar to Greenland or Alaskan boats, although it does share the same philosophy as Alaskan boats in depth and stability. Of course, the construction is largely based upon both Greenland and Alaskan styles.

Killii are your kayaks a combination of Alaskan and Greenland styles? I like the peaked deck for rough seas. I think I may incorporate something similar in one of my kayaks.
