I like wind farms too but they are not going to save the world. They need to be economically viable and right now they are just marginal.
It’s like the Prius, they seem great ‘till you dig deeper and see the real cost.
A Prius takes the equivalent of 1000 more gallons if gas to produce then a similar non hybrid vehicle.

Most of those things are not turning. If the wind speed goes beyond 45mph they are all turned off.Yearly energy efficiency of wind factories, averages 30%.Usless symbols of corporate greed heavily subsidised by govermnent barking up the wrong tree.In many countries these things are built on peat bog land. Each wind factory on disturbed peat bog land will release as much C02 as a coal fired power station would do in in a year.No one in their right mind would build wind factories with no subsidies.

Nice shot,That is a lot of wind turbines.

@iadeevalley There ae two types of oil the biogenic (fossil fuel) oil and the other recently discovered is called abiogenic oil. The latter is methane mixed with other components under the crust. It's existence have been proved by oil wells which were abandoned after they were empty but on revisiting them a few years later, they were filled up with oil again. Obviously this oil did not come from fossils as the time required for biogenic oil is thousands of years!

on the negative side, these units kill hundreds of thousands of birds and bats which control insects.
further, T.Boone Pickens, a very famous oilman several years back invested about a billion of his own money in wind farming, finally gave it up saying it's not viable in the long run. There are several good reason why.
Yea,it'd be fantastic if wind, solar,or water/dam generators/hydroelectricity replaced the usage of fossil fuels which have been formed from the organic remains of prehistoric plants & animals, which is really kinda gross if ya think about it.We use the remains of organic life that was on earth before us to fuel the lives we live, when we could be using something that's constantly fresh/renewing itself like, wind, solar,or water energy.Eventually prehistoric remains are going to run out, what then?

It must really be impressive when they are spinning. I wonder what the stats are for how much electricity they produce over a long period of time. It would be nice to replace fossil fuels. Maybe they can store energy and peak wind times for when there is no wind?

@straz99 it was impressive, just seemed to go on and on, it would be something to see when the wind picks up
