When he was scheduled to preform at a peace rally (Smile Jamaca, 12/05/76) a gunman came to his house and shot him down.
Two days later, Bob Marley walked out on that stage and sang.
When he was asked why he replied...

I am a man, but when i hear his music and his message to the people i feel like crying because very man or woman that has tried to speak up about the wrongs of the government and society has been killed by some ignorant being. someone that is offered money or that wants to become notorious in order to stop inevitable human revolution. It is so sad seeing some of the world's realest people become victims to people that lack vision of a better future for all.
