-
guys stop bitchin, the sound awesome i give a f*** bout their pronounciation,
besides they are children and probably never learned any latin before
-
well, latin is hard to pronounce correctly for ANYone!! Even germans! And Italians is doing it in new italian style...so language of wisdom or not...........! By the way, a lot of us understands very much of the words anyhow!!!!!
-
@Sumpfdolde Don't be a hater... plenty of us Americans can annunciate Latin perfectly. And we are not dump or dumb for that matter. Perhaps if you expanded your horizons beyond your backyard you would see this.

I'm surprised that a British church choir has such pronounced diphthongs in their Latin: Gow-daay-taay rather than Gow-deh-teh. Listen to the Kings' Singers sing this. But this is a great arrangement and they have a beautiful blend.

Harris shines !!!

I don't find their pronunciation bad, actually, though I'm not that familar with this form of Latin. Ecclesiastical Latin is pronounced differently to the language the ancient Romans spoke - it's more like Italian. Hence things like 'virgine' - in the ancient language, that would be pronounced 'weerginnay', but in religious music 'veerjinay' is normal.
Makes the classicist in me shudder a little bit, but that's the way it's meant to be! ;)

@Sumpfdolde Well, aren't we pretentious. For God's sake, just enjoy this beautiful song and the brilliant voices. Who cares if the pronounciation isn't perfect?! They didn't major in Latin, they're kids. Oh, and by the way, they're not American either. Check your facts.

Who gives a f*ck about the pronounciation when they sing so absolutely beautifully!
One of my absolute favourite songs.
ok, its sound absolutly terrible if americany try to sing latin,
a dump folk should not try using the language of wisdom

...except that they're not American. I find their pronunciation quite good, but German tastes might be different.
