Well, let's see, there is the Kingston trio's "Tom Dooley", Tom Jones' "Delilah" Lefty Frizzell's "The Long Black Veil", etc. Ther are quite a few others that I can't think of just now.
this performance is actually from 1966. Recorded live in Fort Worth, TX and the legendary Panther Hall. the album was re-released in '76 with a different cover to capitalize on Willie's new found mainstream success. the original cover shows a clean-shaven, pompadour sporting Willie playing a Fender Jaguar electric guitar.

Nothin' like a good ol' Murder Ballad!! I have it on an old eight track so I've heard it since I was a kid.

I just LOVE Willie, Phil...went to Highwaymen Concert..backstage pass..got Waylon's autograph..had my pic with Wille..arms around each other..oh my..saw Johnny and Kris ..but they werent too approachable..great song..more Willie..more Phil :)) !!Thnx!
