Lexi's POV "Well, Candace is in room ICU 6974," the doctor explained, " And as for you Alexis, you did break your hand. It will have to be in a cast for two weeks and a splint for two weeks after that." "WHAT?!" I screamed, startled by the news. How was I goign to preform on stage with a broken hand!? "Calm down Lex. You'll be fine," Mom soothed. "Just follow me Alexis to the casting room to get your cast on," the doctor coaxed. "Alright," I said, standing up and following the doctor into the large room.
I picked out a baby blue color for my cast. Wow, Candie was usually the one being all wrapped up in these places. As soon as my arm was in its cast I ran down the hall to the ICU wing. I had to see my twin sister. She needed me. The second I walked into her room, her face lit up with excitement.
"Lexi! You'l never believe- WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU?!" Candie exclaimed, worried. She already knew what happened. She made me laugh so much. "Candace! What have I said to you about your language!" Mom scolded. I just chuckled to myself. Candie was too happy all the time even though she was in such poor health condition. "Im sorry..." Candie muttered.
I decided to change the subject off our health problems, but I just brought up the fact of us not being able to preform. "Candie, what are we going to do. I can't preform with my hand like this, and you are in no condition to preform," I explained. "Are you implying that I am deathly ill!?" Candie sarcasticly retorted to my previous comment. I just laughed. "Is my condition funny to you? Do you live everyday knowing htat when you get older you are going to have to be on a pacemaker and breathing tubes?" Candie screamed, still sarcastic. She was never serious unless it came to our music, well her music.
"Candace, I have some bad news," the doctor said simply as he entered her room. "What is it this time Dr..." she looked at his nametag "Paulula." She burst out laughing. I almost did, but I did not want to anger Candie's doctor by disrespecting his name. "Is something funny Candace?" the doctor questioned angrily. "Ok first of all, yes something is hilarious. Your last name cracks me up! And second, I go by Candie and the next time someone calls me Candace I am strangling them then jumping out the window!" Candie explained, angrily. Her blood sugar had just shot up. You could see it on her monitor. The doctor turned bright red and I was waitig for smoke to come from his ears into the room.
"Candace Lauren Jonas! You appoligize to that doctor right now!" Mom scolded. I had never seen mom this angry. Candie had really done it this time. "Im sorry Dr. Paulula..." Candie muttered. Her second appoligly in five minutes...Wow. "Well anyway, back to the 'horrible news'. You're slowly dying due to a hole in your heart and a puncture wound in your left lung. Have fun in your misery," He doctor harshly stated, walking out of the room.
Candie was heartbroken. What if she hadn't been so nasty? Would the doctor have helped with the condition?
"Mom, you have to do something. I can't die!! There has to be something they can do!! A surgery...a transplant!! PLEASE MOM!!" Candie screamed, and she broke out into tears. "Sweety, calm down. I'll make sure there is something that can be done." Mom soothed, hugging Candie. "C-candie..." I said, tears welling in my eyes. "Don't cry for me sis. I'm strong." she choked out showing off her mucsels to me. " I can make it through this!" she said, a slight smile appeared on her face, but I could tell it was a fake smile. She always smiled...I could no longer stand it.
"EVERYTHING IS NOT OK!! YOUR DYING!! HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU SMILE?" I screamed in frustration. "Wow there. Anger issues much!" Candie teased. "HOW CAN YOU DO THIS? HOW DO YOU ALWAYS SMILE? YOUR FUCKING DYING!!!" I screamed again. I could not stand this girl anymore. "Please calm down. Its not any easier for me if you all worry. I need to stay optomstic. Its how I made it this long. Please, stay strong...for me," she pleaded, and her eyes fluttered shut. A tear streamed down my face, and I hugged her unconsious body.
