How bad are things in the USA ?
I am in Australia and a friend who goes to the US on holidays every 2 years, says things are okay and the shops are busy and people have money.

Emotive. The simple things we take for granted . . . not only food, but also water, shelter. Basic survival. Great to be able to offer any of these to others who do not have access.
