Nearly 500 years ago, an obscure German theology professor, Dr. Martin Luther, rediscovered the Gospel and changed Christendom in the process. On Oct. 31, 1517, he posted 95 Theses against the abuse of indulgences on the door of Wittenberg, Germany's Castle Church, sparking the Reformation. Today, the LCMS, Concordia Publishing House, and our German sister church, the SELK, are working together in that very place, in Wittenberg, to share the Gospel with those who live there and throughout Germany, as well as with visitors from around the world. LCMS missionary Rev. David Mahsman reported on the work to the 2010 Synod convention in Houston. Delegates there voted by more than a 95 percent margin in support of the Gospel work in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany.
