I think Iran is doing what the U.S. has been doing in the post-WWII era. They are meddling in foreign affairs for their own domestic political purposes. If the citizenry is worried about "enemies" abroad, they will be distracted from the incompetence and corruption of the current leadership. When there is a foreign threat, the government assumes anti-democratic measures to insure "security" at home and to silence "unpatriotic" criticism. International arms dealers love the arrangement.

The Israeli Air Force is not the US air force, we have strategic bombers. If the Israelis are going to do this, they would need US help which I think we wouldn't give our blessing too. It would be suicide for Israel and they would have to prepare for the consequences of such an attack.
