  • This music genre is called "Moresca" : the characters are black people from Africa leaded to Kindgom of Napoli (in South Italy) as slaves or house servant. The language is a mix of original african words, nonsense and italian dialect of Napoli.

Sorry for my English, I'm Italian ;)

  • @TheMoonlightHolly Grazie del tuo prezioso contributo! Non ne sapevo praticamente nulla.

  • Hey, do you know about the short piece by Orlando di Lasso called: My Little Sweetheart? Do you know what the original language was maybe, and whether it was a chansons? I can't seem to find info on it anywhere.

  • @TheMuzikWiz No, unfortunately I do not know this madrigal. However, I will try to investigate more thoroughly, then let you know.

  • brilliant, orlando was great, i love his song :D and by the way, how is the picture called and who did paint it?

  • @Generalisimus11 Thanks for the compliment! It 'a painting inspired by the prints of Jacques Callot (1592-1635) devoted to the Commedia dell'Arte. They are called "Dance of Sfessania".

Seemed right to combine the two things!

  • i love that picture

  • What time signature is this?

  • @attabalippa Thanks. You know what though I found out that it was in fact written in English, and I confirmed that it was a madrigal. However, I still can't seem to find it in any of his list of complete works. Oh well, It will come up sooner or later.
