I think it has more to do with the accuracy of the toss. If you keep your arm straight, your toss won't be as errant.

Most commentators are idiots. I only respect McEnroe, Courier, and Agassi of them. Many just don't know anything. Some are funny if you put them in, but are still idiots.
Also, stretching the left arm is has no importance. The shoulder turn isn't related to it. I'm guessing you mean a straight arm. All it does is increase the accuracy of your toss. If you have a very good toss anyway, then a straight arm isn't neccessary at all.
Also, I bet sampras12 has an even shittier serve.

Stretching your left arm gives you the strength to turn your shoulder,thats why it is bery important.
