Zydeco Sont Pas Salés
(Snapbeans Ain't Salty)

Clifton Chenier.

Note :
French immigrants to US, kept their culture and music, in isolated swamp-lands in Louisiana.
They mostly play the fiddle and accordion and speak creol. The music is mixed up with the blues.
This is a good example of mixture, which is the strenght of Clifton Cheniers' music, in French Creole language

The "Master" is the Creol accordion-player Clifton Chenier.

It's a charming and original form of blues, I think.

Enjoy.
Peace.

  • When the rock blends blues, Louisiana zydeco is their son! Clifton Chenier is the godfather of the son. The beans are not salty means that there is no meat with the beans because in time the meat was preserved in salt. A plate of beans without meat is a dish of poor people. But this music is very rich, thanks to Clifton, Lynn August, Buckwheat, Roy Carrriere, Queen Ida and the others!

  • @Astrazur Good music never dies !!!

This is good and thanks for a very good comment and listening !

    PEACE !

  • @kickingmule Kickingmule, I so admire you man, you've got grit. I sat here and read 11 pages of comments (pros and cons on Creole Vs Cajuns) and not once did you lose your temper or get involved in these "discussions." BRAVO!. By the 5th page I would have said , "Stick it in your ear," and taken my music and gone home. I love this Cajan/Creole music and thank you for posting it. You're my kinda guy. Peace Brother!

  • This is what makes me happy. It is the sound of home and heritage.

  • @kickingmule Same here! I live in Canada and am trying to learn French and it is Mission Impossible with your hand tied behind your back when trying to understand him... But it is awesome music!

  • @delora33 Truer words have yet to be spoken!

  • @sarviteur1 That is true but the word Zydeco derived from zaricots.

  • @sarviteur1 It's not difficult to understand his french......youre not cajun or creole....are you? Le culture Cajun et Creole cest beaucoup differont. The words we use we had to make for things not found in the traditional french language. That's one reason...but no his french isn't difficult to understand...you just need to learn our dialect.
