This does give me a bit of new respect for Obama. Standing up to the military war-mongers and the military-industrial complex they represent? I'm impressed. I'd like to see Obama fight more and compromise less. I'm normally in favor of compromise, but unfortunately Washington is filled with sociopaths, ideologues, and puppets. I want Obama to prove to me that he isn't just another sold-out professional politician.

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex."
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Petraeus gets his marching orders from Grumman, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and the other 50+ defense contractors that earn BILLIONS of dollars every year from from foreign wars.
We ignored Ike's warning, and now we're paying the price in blood.

Who's Paying for it? continued...All those civilians who die of collateral damage.
Where our tax payer dollars should go!
The Drug Cartels and The Trafficking of Drugs by placing all our troops in and around our borders! Namely, Mexico
Invade Mexico and Destroy the Drug Cartels, which are more a threat to the American people than Muslim terrorists, as these Drug Cartels are Terrorists!

WAR IS A BUSINESS, AND BUSINESS IS GOOD!
All in the re-modification to control all countries into the New World Order.
And who's paying for it? the tax payers, those willing to sacrifice their lives over it and the depreciation of the dollar which effects everybody.
Who's gaining from it? Those who control and/or invest into military manufacturing, the global elite and oil barons/investors.

If we had just concentrated on afghanistan and not tried Iraq at the same time. And they had to lie to us, like it couldn't wait.
-
@envanje No, you don't understand. I did not say it was OK to kill innocent men. I am talking about terrorism. They target women and children for maximum effect.
-
ok if I understand you correct it is evil to kill women and children but it is allright to kill men, innocent or not. very sexist idea of you I must say.
-
@envanje The objective of terrorism is to create TERROR in a society so that they will capitulate to your demands. Killing women and children adds to the horror and therefore the terror. Terrorism is evil.
-
why only talking about innocent women and children, what about killing innocent men for they are mainly innocent too ! I mean, isn't this thing not a very sexist idea ?
I think it better to let the General decide when it is best to bring the troops home.
Not some starbucks beatnick with a youtube account, or a community organizer with poor judgment.

@theredpillxxx Wow, there's several layers of assumption there. Fail.
Also, generals don't make policy. In the U.S., we supposedly have civilian control of the military. General Petraeus has been given clear instructions from his Commander-in-Chief. It's not his place to fight to undermine them.

@rethinkafghanistan Actually, you don't know exactly what the President has told them. All you have are media reports. The President has lied so many times that he has no credibility. He makes promises and pronouncements and then goes back to facing the reality of the war. The war has and is keeping us safe. People do not understand that if we do not engage the enemy over there, we will have to engage them over here.

@CommonSenseJoe The idea that this war is keeping us safe is ludicrous. Homeland Security reports that the number of attempted attacks against the U.S. is at an all-time high. Violence in Afghanistan is at its peak in the 9-year-plus conflict. And the longer we stay and accidentally kill civilians, the more resentment we engender that makes the world more dangerous for Americans. You're absolutely begging the question when you try to argue that the war is keeping us safer.
