Born in Transylvania (Rumania) in 1974, Ferenc Vizi started the piano at the age of nine with András Körtési in his native town of Reghin. Gérard Frémy, a member of the jury of the George Enesco competition, in which Ferenc Vizi won a special prize, encouraged him to come and study with him at the Paris Conservatoire, which he was able to do in 1992, thanks to a French government grant and the Yvonne Lefébure Foundation. In 1998, after graduating with a unanimous first prize at the Conservatoire, he entered the postgraduate performers course there with Jacques Rouvier, and from 2000 to 2002 went on to study with Françoise Thinat at the Paris Ecole Normale.

A "Juventus Lauréat" in 1995, Ferenc Vizi has carried off a number of pretigious prizes: first prize in the Saratov competition (Russia, 2000), fourth prize in the Hamamatsu competition (Japan, 2000), second prize and special jury prize in the Arthur Rubinstein competition (Tel-Aviv, 2001), second prize in the Munich ARD competition in 2002. He has since performed with orchestres given recitals in France, Germany, Finland, Russia, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Luxemburg, Rumania, Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico. Ferenc Vizi has also performed as a chamber musician with the 'cellists Henri Demarquette, François Salque and Françoise Groben, and the violinists Graf Mourja, Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabedian and Alexis Cardenas.

In November 2002 Ferenc Vizi recorded Bartók's second piano concerto with the Bayerischen Rundfunk Orchestra conducted by Peter Rundell for the radio in Munich. His recording of Beethoven's sonata opus 111 and Schumann's Fantasy opus 17 was released in January 2005 on the French Aeon label. A recording bringing together works by Schubert, Liszt and Wagner under the title Voyage was released in November 2007 on the Satirino Records label.

In January 2004 Ferenc Vizi made an immensely successful début appearance at the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris and was immediately reinvited to give a recital in January 2005. In the same month he played in the Beethoven Folle Journée in Nantes, followed by Beethovens 3rd piano concerto in April 2005 at the 10th International Robert Casadesus Piano Festival with the Orchestre National de Lille.

He has since performed at the famous La Roque dAnthéron International Piano Festival, the Vichy Opera and in the Reims, Vollore, Epau, Piano à Riom and the Serres dAuteuil and Royan festivals as well as in Barcelona, Bordeaux. In April 2007 Ferenc Vizi performed Beethovens 3rd Piano Concerto with the Wurtembergischer KammerOrchester as well as Liszts 1st Piano Concerto and Totentanz with the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra at the « Dias de la Música » in Lisbon. In May 2007, he was invited to the St Etienne « Piano Passion » to participate in a Beethoven sonata cycle including Cédric Tiberghien, Alain Planès and Stephen Kovacevich. In March 2008 he gave two recitals in Paris, one at the Musée d'Orsay, the other at the Opéra comique. His most recent parisian recital was at the Théâtre de la Ville in January 2009 - to a full house.
