(June 12)The scout motto is 'be prepared," but nothing could have prepared nearly a 100 boys for the intensity of a tornado that hit their campground. SOT : when it hit, i felt like I was getting shot at, it was just rocks, dirt trees everything. The twister tore through the Little Sioux Scout Ranch in western Iowa late Wednesday. The scouts were in two groups at the time. One group was hiking, the other found shelter SOT: "Zach Jessen, Freemont Nebraska the door blew open, and they were like under the tables, under the tables, and I pulled my friend, and then it just hit the building." One scout was trying to get to a building, but had to dive into a ditch. SOT: it was raining like hard like normal rain, then all the wind got sucked out of my lungs, and I couldn't stand up, so I just laid in the ditch. When the storm passed, he ran to scouts who were down. SOT: I grabbed a first aid kit and ran up to where all the kids were like, not alive .. Dead. 4 boys were killed. 48 others were hurt. Those that weren't jumped in to help, giving critical first aid until help arrived. SOT: chet these are the real heros, setting up triages Officials say the damage to the area was extensive SOT: we were going through the woods and everywhere you stepped there was nothing but trees and limbs As the evening wore on -- some boys were able to get word to their parents.SOT: Gayle Jessen, Mother he said, I'm okay mom, and you need to call this other boy's mom to say he's okay, and then the phone went dead. Scout officials say the boys were attending a seminar to teach them to be better leaders.SOT: Roitstein:and the best young future leaders of the Boy Scouts are invited to attend this training course, to learn how to be prepared. Many of the injured were still hospitalized by Thursday morning -- Their injuries ranged from cuts and bruises to major trauma. ___ ___, The Associated Press.

@jibety66 hello. I am a meterologist with a PhD and actually study these events. Your comment was absoultly in the uttermost profound degree a horrible comment. Those boys never got to live the rest of there lives and only the most successful people in the world are eagle scouts. And, gays are very statisticly rare in boyscouts. Those boys went down with honor and didn't have much of a place to go according to latest topological studies. They didn't have a chance and deserve respect.
