Part 1 of 3. We install an upper and lower ball joint from start to finish on a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500. Upper ball joint is McQuay-Norris brand and lower ball joint is XRF brand.
In this video we use the power steering method to remove a rusty hub assembly.

  • @qwikxr Helllo, sorry for the delayed response, the upper ball joint acts as a floating king pin if you will.

    If it did not float the steering would bind when you tighten down the lower ball joint. On the old style axles there was an adjustable insert that you would use to adjust the load on the upper ball joint, with this style you do not need to manually adjust the preload on the ball joint.

  • why does the new upper ball joint move in/out?
