  • I also decided to have an open adoption. It was a huge mistake. My daughter is back in my life and we are working through the damage I caused due to the decision of adoption! All family have issues and my daughters issues are the same as my issues and her adoptive family never understood her. When my daughter was 6 they stopped contacting me all together! Then when she was 17 she caused problems and they abandoned her. Adoption SUCKS BIG TIME!

  • rnaesj, that does sound mean. or at the least, ignorant. open adoption is a very common move in order to manipulate young parents into giving up their child and then, of course, reneg on the agreement. THAT is emotionally damaging to both the child and his parents. it is NOT selfish for a natural parent to LOVE his child and WANT to be a part of that child's life. it's selfish to keep a child from his natural family.

  • I hope I don't sound mean but it sounds like you didn't want to have the burden of raising the child but want to have the benefits of being his "father" when he's old enough to appreciate you. Sounds a bit selfish...maybe the family didn't want to cause emotional damage to the boy.

  • you are a father a giant among men

I wish all men would step up to the plate

like you are doing I wish you and your

    son the best

  • Please understand , you are not a birth father , you are a first father not a breeder , and the mother is a first mother not a birth mother, the terms were created by the industry to dehumanize natural parents, I sent you an article on here to your inbox
