There aren't a lot of clips on YouTube that show the Emergency Alert System in action (many are just fake mock ups), so here is one. :)

Who knew a sewer pipe breaking would be good enough to warrant a Civil Emergency?

So wait, the sanitation system prompted them to tell folks not to flush toilets or use showers, but they thought it would be okay to tell them it was fine for drinking? And without boiling the water?

@MalamiteLtd What happened was a large sewer pipe broke for some reason, and there was fear that thousands of homes in the part of Sioux Falls that was mentioned would end up having sewer backups in their basement. Drinking water was fine as the sewer system is apparently seperate from the water supply.

The end result was that only 30 or so homes reported sewer backup.

They should issue more civil emergency messages for Ohio. So I can film it and put it on here, also I learned that they actually use the term "the following message is transmitted at the request of the -------" in a real alert. :)
