  • I do not know what worries me the most.

Mcwilliams beleives what he is saying or that he does not have clue.

The banking debts of ireland cannot be seperated from sovereign debt. The credit that the banks in ireland have taken on board has been guaranteed by the central bank of ireland from from fractional mechanisms.

  • @gazfish123

He just suggested depositors to be backed. And did suggest a stated time limit. Decide which banks to save and which to let go at that point was his idea.

  • Guess who advised Finance that they should guarantee all Bank debt, Mr McWilliams keeps quiet about that.

  • wanna learn portuguese? anyone? portuguese-brazil, chijna is too heavy too many people to grow like they have they are a bubble and have no resources, brazil was everything, biggest oil reserves in planet, amazon florest, industry, they have everything, i think they will grow, they are also a free democracy no dictatorship like russia china, have everything, they also have lots german italian english people can relate join there its a huge country that was snow south, desert, tropical florests

  • now, take a deep breath and think of the best country that you will groom your children to live in....Brazil, China, Germany...I hope they have good language teahcers in the schools in your area. Happy new year. The Irish will soon be on the streets...we're not as reactionary as the meds (portugal, spain, greece) but we'll soon cop on and then I think our reaction will be more severe (i.e Sinn fein in govt by 2013). I'm not a politcal science expert but I'll throw it out there anyway!

  • BTW, Ireland will not get of this recession unless it defaults on bank bondholder debt in a way that pisses off the ECB big time. here' a scary stat for you - Irish govt in 2010 spent 50 billion euros in order to run the country ( that escludes any bank bailouts +€20Bn) while the govt received €32Bn in tax receipts....add in the fact that by 2011, we'll have €8bn in loan and interest repayments, that leaves with an approximate €25bn funding gap. This year's budget closed that gap by €6bn.

  • @Cankdtank it's obvious that you're not an economist as ou're throwing out hackneyed bs. it's true that david predicted a overheated property bubble in 1999 and called for less inflationary property tax policy. Was that such a crazy idea?...given that there has been a -50% fall in residential poperty prices from peak bringing current home prices close to 2000 levels in real terms??...of course you don't have a response as you're not an economist but you'll try muster up some tabloid garbage....

  • ASYLUM SEEKERS IN IRELAND CAUGHT 'ASYLUM SHOPPING'

243 Asylum seekers were transferred to other EU states after being caught 'asylum shopping' where they looked for refugee status in 2 or more countries.

40 failed asylum seekers were deported last night, a further 202 opted for help in returning home voluntarily rather than being removed.

    source: Irish Independent 12/3/10

and there's no such thing as bogus asylum seekers, you are racist for saying so...
