Intelligent Solar Tracking Control System:
The proposed sun tracking system is intelligent and would track the sun throughout the day using very precise sunlight sensors connected to a processing system. The mechanical design of the tracker is very sophisticated but easy to manufacture. The aim is to build a tracker which has a mechanism suitable for direct electricity production, solar radiation reflection or focusing for solar thermal applications. The latest Atmel X-Mega 32-bit platform was used to prototype the tracking system. The design combines an ATMEL processor with two-axis motor tracking controller to integrate peripherals such as microprocessor, memory and I/O into one Atmel microcontroller. This integration accelerates development while maintaining design flexibility, reduces the circuit board costs with single-chip PLUS controller circuit to drive the motor solution, simplifies product testing since two different panels could be used and gives an updated information to the tracker every day by the best position to start tracking next day.
