Interesting footnote sent to me from user Sentwest: The novel 'Alien Influences' by sci-fi author Kristine Kathryn Rusch (1997) is about a group of human colonists' children who, neglected by their parents, are disastrously assimilated into the native alien population who are, incidentally, known as "Dancers".
