Of course, Peter would later be head of A&R at Apple Records and sign James Taylor to the label. Whoduthunk? As to more on Austin Powers, you can look to many other spy-parody films of the late '60's and early '70's for additional inspiration, e.g., "There's a Girl in My Soup" with the brilliant Peter Sellers and many of the BBC spy programs like The Avengers or Department S. Hell, add some Laugh-In for breaking the "fourth wall", too!

Yes, great song made even better by the fact that these lads were buddies with The Fabs, taking this McCartney-penned tune to the top of the UK and US charts (hell, if your sis' is dating Macca, then you might as well make the best of it!). BUT...Peter Asher was not the model for "Austin Powers"--that would be Michael Caine in the Harry Palmer films (hence, Mr. Caine being oh-so appropriately cast as Austin's dad in the worst film of the series, "Goldmember") and Derek Flint/Matt Helm flicks.
