Betty White hosted Saturday Night Live this week where she gave the Republican Party a fine example of how they should handle themselves in the upcoming Senate Judiciary hearings for the confirmation of US Solicitor General Elena Kagan to fill the Supreme Court seat of retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. There are a lot of rumors concerning the possibility that Elena Kagan may be a lesbian, which would make her very unlikely to gain any Republican support during the hearings on her confirmation to the Supreme Court of the United States -- not that her sexuality should have anything to do with her winning approval to the court. On SNL Betty White repeatedly called out a character in a sketch as a lesbian, with an attitude that revealed her acceptance of the young woman as normal. It would be nice if the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee could do the same and just accept Elena Kagan for who she is without having to give into pressure from extremists in the Republican Party.
Elena Kagan (pronounced /ˈkeɪɡən/),[2] born April 28, 1960[1]) is Solicitor General of the United States. She is the first woman to hold that office, having been nominated by President Barack Obama on January 26, 2009, and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 19, 2009. Kagan was formerly dean of Harvard Law School and Charles Hamilton Houston Professor of Law at Harvard University. She was previously a professor of law at the University of Chicago Law School. She served as Associate White House Counsel under President Bill Clinton. She does not have a husband.
Late in the evening of May 9, 2010, MSNBC, followed by the New York Times, reported that Kagan will be nominated as an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, replacing retiring Justice John Paul Stevens, by President Obama on May 10, 2010.[3][4] If nominated and confirmed, she would become the fourth female Supreme Court justice in United States history and third on the court's current bench. She would also be the eighth Jewish justice in United States history and the third on the current bench.

The lifetime position is just too important to comfirm someone with no experience on the bench. Just because I've had surgery does not qualify me to perform surgery on others!

@EPSWhiz You have got to be kidding. Worst analogy EVER! Earl Warren had never been on the Bench when Eisenhower appointed him, but he turned out to be one of the greatest Chief Justices.
