Niigata Beer is marketing truffles that were grown successfully using Japanese mushroom cultivation beds. This makes it possible to grow white and black truffles either in open fields or in greenhouses in commercial quantities with ease.

This marks the first time in the world that a successful cultivation method for white truffles has been developed, and this includes Europe as well. The cultivation methods used to produce black truffles in France and other countries takes around 7 years, but this new cultivation method drastically reduces this time frame to between 6 months and 2 years.

Studies have shown that truffles feature polyphenol antioxidant properties, and that truffle extract can potentially regenerate 50 percent of damaged cells.

Although black truffles contain roughly triple the amount of polyphenol as white truffles, the antioxidant properties are about the same. This means that while white truffles contain less polyphenol than black truffles, their antioxidant properties are sufficient.

Niigata Beer is planning to market truffle butter, truffle oil, and in the future truffle cheese on the Internet. Truffle butter is currently available online for 1,500 yen.
