Boston University at Denver University - 01/03/09

The Terriers of Boston University took the Denver Cup Championship Game by a score of 4-1 at Magness Arena, doing so in front of freshman goaltender Kieran Millan. The game marked the first time the Terriers had been outshot this year, and Millan made several huge stops. BU was missing sophomore stars Colin Wilson and Kevin Shattenkirk, while DU's Tyler Bozak was out with an injury. BU opened the scoring thanks to Vinny Saponari, and widened their lead to 2-0 on a Matt Gilroy power play goal. The Pioneers narrowed the gap in the second period on a Rhett Rakhshani backhand goal, but BU senior Brandon Yip made it 3-1 minutes later. DU challenged Millan in the 3rd, but he stood tall and Zach Cohen potted an empty netter to seal the win for BU.

Quite possibly the best game we played all season. Solid all around. This team is championship material (fingers crossed while knocking on wood)
