It looks a lot different when I rub one out......

May I know the color you use on that table? What color is it?

I really enjoy your videos Charles. Great information in an easy to understand demonstration. I'm finishing a woodworking project using your steps and the Mirka Abralon product. Good stuff !
Thanks !
One question I have for you is is this: Do you sand between your coats or just apply 3-4 coats and then begin the rubbing process?

Excellent videos. Thanks !

Hello Mr. Neil, I like your video. I have a benchrest rifle stock I would like to put a hard smooth clear coat finish on, It will be used shooting off a rest on a bench so it needs to be able to slide on recoil. what would be a good product, and can it be painted on or does it have to be sprayed. and when you apply several coats do you sand after each coat . thanks for the help. Terry

I have put 4 or 5 coats of water based varathane on my test table. I stated to wet sand it by hand with a 1000 grain paper and soppy water. The more and sand it, the less gloss I gets. I gets less glossy then the unsanded varathane looks.
What is the problem? Is it varathatne, I don’t have enough varnish? What did I do wrong?
please help!!
Thanks for an excellent tutorial. I'm going to want to finish some drums I am building to a HIGH GLOSS finish. You mentioned the Abralon sanding pads are great for the intermediate sheens but I wonder if they are ok for the high gloss as well? I like the construction of the Abralon product and would like to use it if it can work for me. What do you think Mr Neil? thx in advance

@Ismlor Yes sir, they make a 4000 grit that will give you a gloss sheen ,,

hello,
i am working on an office desk for everyday use, what grit would you recommend?

@SmoothlyLethal depending on how rough the finish is, I usually use 1000, 2000, and 3000 abralon pads By mirka, the 3000 is a high satin sheen , 2000 is a lower one, i prefer a satin sheen for everyday use, you can also get 4000 grit for a gloss, just be sure you have plenty of finish on there to rub, remember rubbing is actually just fine sanding, and you are removing finish, I always go an extra coat or 2 if I plan to rub
