Yowun Wasanthaye - Nanda Malini - From the Sinhala Film 'Diyamanthi' (1976)

Vasantha Obeysekara's suspicion engulfed movie gave us two quality songs.
'Yowun Wasanthaye' and 'Gigiri Geetha Rawe'.

Music directed by D R Peiries who has been a silent talented music visharada. I have associated his son who sadly passed away during the 1990s. I dedicate this song for him as he was a character full of energy and happiness.

The plot of the movie reminds me of certain Hitchcock style approach where the story is not divulged till the last 2-3 minutes of the film.

Victor and Nanda sang songs. The 70s youth stars Vijaya, Wimal and Somasiri take the limelight along with Malini as the main actress.

Was this Vasantha's first film? It looks a commercial film to me which is complete contrast to his later work !

I'm not really sure whether this is Vasantha's first film.

But this is not a commercial film. It has a storyline of Alfred Hitchcock's calibre.

Vasantha uses popular stunts for his classic peice of suspense creations.

There is something in 70s that attract me into it. This perhaps my most favorite song of 70s or may be all times.

Remember watching this film on SLRC when I too was in my spring of youth and sweet memories of youth flows back to mind when watching this.

Vijaya's killer had a very brutal last journey and his boss had to repay for that by burning alive at the Borella cemetry. Vijaya was a real left young politician who gave a strong moral to conventional left politics in Sri Lanka. Tribute him for his honesty and braveness.
