Subaru Rally Team USA (SRT USA) returns to the 2011 Rally America National Championship at the season opener Sno*Drift Rally in northern Michigan. The team conducted a successful pre-event test earlier in Michigan ahead of the event with team drivers David Higgins and Dave Mirra. Higgins and Mirra each pilot the team's 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally cars prepared by Vermont SportsCar.

The Sno*Drift Rally features nearly 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads in northern Michigan with nearly one third of the miles run at night. Constantly changing weather and road conditions historically make this rally extremely challenging made even more treacherous as Rally America rules prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice tires here placing a premium on road traction.

  • @CrazyJay987 true that but david higgins is definitely the shit :D

  • I like Dave Mira but I do wish Ken and Travis had stayed on the team =(

  • @darkshadowscene seems like he lost a bet haha

  • @STI821 ..you missed last year's champion, Le'Stage. anyway... Sabastian Loeb, both of the Soldberg Brothers, and many more i could name could beat anyyy RA driver at any given time. Those names are good in Rally America, but in WRC they would be nothing. Pastrana actually tried a couple of WRC events, but failed miserably. Hence why he didn't do what Block did and step it up. Block did the same as Pastrana, but was the only to show anyyy chance of promise for WRC.

  • @regentalcoing i know i would rather have a skilled driver suck as pastrana back here on rally

  • @darkshadowscene nascar sucks

  • hotrod....Having raced against these "SEMI-DECENT" drivers I would say you are off the mark. Drivers like Travis, Mirra, Block, ACP, Matt Johnson, Foust, Lawless, and a host of others you haven't heard of, are some of the finest drivers in the RA series. Granted some have moved on to other venues but they, as well as many others in the series, are a far shot above semi-decent. Unless you tried it, your blowing hot air about things you know nothing about.

  • If a truck can't race how come Jim Cox running #558 a Chevrolet S10 V8 has raced the Ojibwe/Bunyan race for years? How about a new 2010 mustang? Mark Utecht and Mike Hurst ran one as a publicity stunt for Ford a couple years ago. I know there are rules. 113 pages of them for 2011. Obviously they won't let you jump into this craziness as a rookie. Most rookies start out with cheap nat-aspirated FWD cars. I agree it is mostly subi/mitsu, but it isn't ONLY them like with Ford/Citroen in WRC.

  • @hotrodrodrodrod84 actually MINI is making their comeback in WRC. but no, a V8 truck can't race in Rally America. There's a loadddd of rules in RA that apparently you're not seeing. A Subaru WRX STI (any year) can be up to full rally speculations, but can a first year driver run it in a race? no. Rookie's can't drive anything with a turbo. AND, the lineup of cars in Rally America may as well be 2 manufacturer anyway. All you see is Subarus and Mitsubishis driven by SEMI-DECENT drivers.
