Today the United States is facing two crises. While leaders continue to work through the global financial meltdown, another crisis looms that threatens companies long-term growth: a severe lack of skilled workers. Every day in thousands of organizations around the world, the ASTDs 44,000 members whose expertise is training and development prepare the workforce with the skills they need to be successful in this global economy. In this video, several of these members share their thoughts on what the next administration needs to do to address this massive skills shortage, and help U.S. organizations succeed in our global economy. http://www.astd.org/publicpolicy
It's a real problem. young workers can't get skills because employers want experience as well as skills, so young or even older workers can't afford to train in jobs they would prefer. like I want to train in something other than a cna, or truck driver but I need the experience first, because the housing crisis wiped out my savings.
