@MagMusic Yeah, exactly... I definitely realized that Mark Adams, particularly on this song, Watching You, overdubbed his bass parts to create a distinctive and almost unduplicatable sound. I'm a bass player and one a couple of his glissandos (running the note all the way down or up the fret board) I noticed that he goes up and down the fretboard simultaneously- and for years I was like how the hell did he do that- now I realize that it had to be overdubbed.
@tonyskins19 No. Hankerson was Arrington's bassist in Hall of Fame. Slave only had Mark Adams, and that's all they needed. The way he played SOUNDED like two bass players (and I think he overdubbed bass parts at times, as well). Listen to Hall of Fame; you'll hear that Adams and Hankerson sound nothing alike. Hankerson was a good player; Adams moved the dial on what funk bass playing was conceptually. A very, very baad man.
Mark Adams had a style all his own!
